MOVIES: Taking Lives

Taking Lives is one of those serial-killer movies that there wouldn't be so many of if they didn't almost always have a hot sex scene. This is the kind of movie that makes it obvious who the bad guy is the second you see him, but then spends the rest of the movie trying to convince you otherwise. The mystery is boring, and the ending is absurd. There's really no reason for a trite, redundant, thrill-less thriller like this to exist. But there's a hot sex scene with Angelina Jolie, so here we are.

Jolie is an FBI agent, Ethan Hawke is a witness/suspect, Kiefer Sutherland gets much higher billing than he deserves for the number of scenes he's in, and Gena Rowlands acts her damn head off. Also, it's set in Montreal, so for once all the exterior settings don't look like an American city for a reason (other than the cheap Canadian production values).
