TV: DVD releases

Two items about TV shows on DVD. First the bad news: Due to high music licensing fees, WKRP in Cincinnati is unlikely ever to be released on disc. Recent DVDs of Quantum Leap and Northern Exposure have contained jarringly noticeable music replacements from their original broadcast, but at least they were able to be released. For WKRP, the music was so integral to nearly every single episode, it simply would be pointless to put it out on DVD without all the music rights properly secured. Having witnessed the horrible music changes made to the syndicated repeats of the show, I have to agree. Much as I covet a DVD set of WKRP, if they can't do it right, they shouldn't do it at all.

And the good news: I bought the first season DVD set of Greatest American Hero today! How is this good news for you, you ask? Well, who said it was good news for you? Geez, not everything's about you, little miss thang.
